It is believed that Godzilla's colossal size was due to nuclear radiation whereas Varan's stature, being of equal height and mass to Godzilla, was due to natural evolution. A creature from a long forgotten era, Varan is a completely natural kaiju. History: Theories among the most preeminent kaijuologists are that Varan may in fact be one of the first mega-fauna in existence on Earth, earning it the name Varan "the father of lizards" and possibly the real life progenitor of many known reptiles.
